ANTHONY BUONO has built his law practice in Columbia County
since 1996.
Anthony Buono previously served as an Assistant District Attorney
for Columbia County prosecuting misdemeanor and felony cases in
County Court and local courts.
Prior to moving to Columbia County, he was a Legal Aide for the
New York State Department of Motor Vehicle Appeals Board in
Albany.
Anthony Buono has served as a special prosecutor for Columbia
County, a special Town Attorney for the Town of Claverack and
acting Assistant Attorney for the Town of Chatham.
Anthony Buono has tried many civil and criminal cases. These
include felony and misdemeanor jury trials in criminal matters in
County, City, Town and Village Courts. These also include non-jury
trials in child custody and support matters in Family Court, as well
as matrimonial and other civil matters in Supreme Court. Anthony
Buono also has argued before the Appellate Division for the Third
Department of the New York Supreme Court.

knowledge of the law. It requires dedication, discipline and

Anthony Buono is a cum laude graduate of both Albany Law School
and St. Michael’s College in Winooski, Vermont.
While in law school, Anthony Buono served on the Moot Court
Board. He also won the Pre-Trial Hearing Competition and was a
member of the Health Law Appellate Team and the American Trial
Lawyers Trial Team. Based upon these accomplishments, he won
the prestigious Wanger Award as the best advocate in his second
year class.
In his third year at Albany Law School, Anthony Buono was
Chairman of the Senior Prize Trials Competition. For this
Competition he wrote civil and criminal mock trial competition
problems and coordinated this six-month competition. He returns
to Albany Law School each year to judge the Senior Prize Trials.
Also while in Law School, Anthony Buono interned with the
Bennington County State’s Attorney, the Chittenden County State’s
Attorney and the Albany County District Attorney.
Anthony Buono is a member of the New York State Bar Association
and the Columbia County Bar Association. He has served as the
Secretary of the Columbia County Bar Association since 1999 and
is a member of the Executive Committee. He also is a Lieutenant
with the Valatie Fire Department. He served as a Trustee from
1999-2005 and was Chairman of the Board of Trustees from 2003-
2005. He presently serves on the By-Laws Committee and the
Apparatus Purchasing Committee.
